DUBOIS MAZDA TOURNAMENT

Lovely day, nice temperature with quite a bit of wind but nothing like the eastern seaboard was dealing with thanks to Hurricane Irene.
Gary Moore (Woodstock) with his partner led the way with a score of 53, plus of 5, and 22 shots against. Way to go Gary and Dorothy.

Rick Wood and Kay Johns from Seaforth were second with 48 + 4 and 23 against.

Joan Way and Carol Risidore (Burlington) and Jim Young with Sandra Ronson (Fairmont) had exactly the same score of 39 with a plus of 3 but Jim had 34 shots against so got third while Joan had 35 shots against and finished 4th. These close, close scores certainly keep the draw-masters thinking.
Tony Hawken and Diana May from Aylmer were 5th and the high game winner was another Seaforth team, Dave Ducklow and Marilyn Lancaster.

We really appreciate the teams coming from all over and, of course, special thanks to our sponsors.

Next up is District 3 open jitney in conjunction with Sports Week on September 15th, followed that evening at 6 with our In-club Blue and white sponsored by Brighton Construction. This is a potluck dinner which is always delicious.

The final tournament of the year is the Apple Tournament on September 18th sponsored by Edward Jones (Justin Byers). This is a MT/WT and there are still plenty of spaces available.

Sept. 15 – Sports Day Canada at Woodstock LBC

District 3 OLBA is hosting an Open Jitney in conjunction with the CBC Sports Day Canada. Our jitney will be on September 15, bowling will start at 1pm with 2, 10 end games. It is open to all members of District 3. Come on out and enjoy the day of just for fun bowling!

The event is listed on the CBC site – click here to see what’s happening across Canada.

Jack and June Bell Memorial

Unfortunately because of lack of entries, the June Bell tournament had to be cancelled.
The Jack Bell Memorial went on with Rick Wood and Dave Ducklow from Seaforth coming in first. Joe Dorsch and Brad Fleming from St. Marys came in second with another team from St. Marys, Len Bornham and Rob Truax coming in third. The John Chow team coming all the way from Milton finished fourth and the High one game winner was Moe Cosyn and Jim Smith from Woodstock.

Next up is the Dubois Mazda (MP/WP) on August 28th at 10 a.m. at WLBC. See you there. Still room for some more entries so give Jan Post a call. The number is in the OLBA annual.

SCOTIA BANK

A few dribbles of rain and lots of heat but we got all three games in.
First was Gary Moore and Deanna Palmer from Woodstock with 3 wins, 41 for and 26 shots against.
Second with 3 wins was Peter and Lesley Kurn from Thistle in London
Third with 2 wins and a score of 35 with 23 against was Glen and Glennis Keene from neighbouring Stratford.
Silver Papis from Ingersoll with partner, Sandra Jarman from Thamesford also had two wins with 32 for and 33 against.
Bill Baxter and his partner, Maureen, from Fairmont were next with 2 wins, 31 for and 26 against
The high one game winner was Moe Cosyn and his partner, Shirley Hague, from the Woodstock Club.
Thanks everyone for coming and making it a super tournament.
